I have a csv file that has 1500 req IDs along with 3 other attributes. My DOORS module probably only has 100 of those req IDs and wanted to use that master 1500 object csv to update only the 100 objects with the other attributes in the file. Currently it creates new objects for the other 1400 or so objects and I dont want it to create the new objects and it would be a little difficult to go through the file and remove the objects that are not present because I have other modules that I need to do this to. Is there a script that I can use to do this without it creating new objects?
Thanks for the help.

Well at least a workaround: Export your module IDs to Excel, filter the CSV for the ones in your list and create an update file, that only contains the IDs of your module. You can also do a VBA script to automatize this in Excel. Another way is, to go to the spreadsheet import and just comment out/skip over the part, where the script creates a new object.

Re: Enhanced CSV Import SystemAdmin - Mon Mar 11 04:06:05 EDT 2013
Hi
Ok, I have a dxl module which is called internally "Smart csv import" and which performs an upgrading import. But this is owned by my employer and I cannot give it away without any price.
And now let me say a price which may be a reason to publish a script like this. The price is nothing in € or $, because my employer sells gears and not software. The price is your input.
I do not know if you know the doors dxl standard library or not (http://sourceforge.net/projects/dxlstandardlib/). In this library you can find an xml reader. Some weeks ago this library has helped in my work a little bit, say 3-5 days reduced effort to solve a problem. The price we speak about is your engagement which helps me to reduce my working time and this is the "money" for my employer.
Developing such a dxl standard libray und growing up will reduce my working time for a dxl-project even if I change the employer. If I change and use the same libray, there is a well known developement environment.
So we need:
a) A libray licence which allows me to use the script as much as i require it
b) A team of members who has decided to investigate some time in such a library
The last point is the most important point I think, because if 10 Persons have spend a 1 day to develope a software, something is growing up of a size of 10 mandays (German Manntage). And even if I can use only 30% of the common libray for my project, I've an three times higher developement speed in the days of growing up the libray.
My price for this module is such a team where the others spare other important dxl scripts.
Best regards
Wolfgang

Also, where is the spreadsheet import script located?

Re: Enhanced CSV Import vppatel - Mon Mar 11 13:57:47 EDT 2013
found the script but I am not good at programming so it is difficult for me to find what I would need to comment out for it not to create a new object.

Got it to work, commented out the steps to create the new objects and now works like a charm.
Thanks

which part of the script did you comment out? I can't get mine to work. Can you share?
